Anybuddy Fair Play System: Understanding Your Level
We've upgraded our ranking system to make every match fair, rewarding, and truly representative of your skill. Our new intelligent scoring system focuses on player protection and accurate skill assessment.
How Your Level Works
Every player has an internal score that translates into a visible Level ranging from 1.0 to 8.0.
Level Progression
- Levels 1.0 to 5.0: Every 1,000 points earned increases your level by 1.0
- Levels 5.0 to 8.0: Elite tier—requires 2,000 points per level to reflect top-tier competition
- Maximum Level: 8.0 (the highest achievable level on the platform)
Player Protections
🛡️ Safety Zone: Challenge Without Risk
We believe you shouldn't be penalized for playing against stronger opponents.
- What happens: If you play someone more than 1.0 level higher than you and lose, you lose zero points
- Why it matters: Play challenging matches to improve without fear of damaging your ranking
- Look for: The Shield Icon 🛡️ in your match history shows protected matches
🚫 Point Capping: Fair Competition
We prevent experienced players from exploiting the system.
- What happens: If you're 1.5+ levels stronger than your opponent and win, you gain zero points
- Why it matters: Maintains community integrity and prevents "point farming" from beginners
- The result: Everyone earns their ranking through fair competition
How Your Rating Stabilizes
Reliability Factor: Finding Your True Level
Our system learns your actual skill level as you play more matches.
New Players (0-20 matches)
- Your level may change quickly as the system finds your appropriate skill tier
- Large swings are normal—this helps you reach your true level faster
Experienced Players (20+ matches)
- Your Reliability reaches 100%, and your level becomes stable
- Changes are smaller and more gradual, protecting you from single "bad day" losses
- Consistency is rewarded over time
Special Situations
🚀 Upset Victories (Smurf Boost)
When a new player (during your first 20 matches) defeats a stronger opponent within a reasonable skill gap:
- Bonus Applied: 2x point multiplier
- When it applies: The level difference must be challenging but fair (typically less than 1.5 levels)
- Reason: Helps talented new players reach their appropriate level quickly during their provisional period
- Important: While strong players don't gain points from beating beginners, beginners always earn points for defeating stronger opponents, helping them reach their true rank even faster
💙 Bad Day Protection
When an experienced player loses a close match (skill difference ≤ 1.0 level):
- Protection Applied: Point loss reduced by 50%
- Reason: Everyone has off-days; close matches shouldn't drastically impact stable ratings
- Result: Your hard-earned level is protected from normal variance
Quick Reference
Situation | What Happens | Why |
|---|---|---|
I lost to someone 1.0+ levels higher | You lose 0 points | Encourages challenging yourself against better players |
I beat someone 1.5+ levels lower | You gain 0 points | Prevents unfair point farming |
I'm new (under 20 matches) and winning upsets | You gain 2x points | Gets you to your true skill level faster during provisional period |
I'm experienced with 20+ matches | Your level is stable | Rewards consistency; protects from variance |

- ✅ No Exploitation: High-level players can't farm points from beginners
- ✅ Risk-Free Challenges: Play stronger opponents to improve without penalty
- ✅ Smart Upset Handling: The system recognizes and rewards genuine skill surprises
Think Your Level is Wrong?
We understand that initial assessments aren't always perfect. Here's how we handle level adjustments:
🔄 Early Adjustment Window (Recommended)
If you've played fewer than 10 matches, you have flexible options:
Option 1: Let the System Work
- Our algorithm is designed to find your true level rapidly (usually within 10-15 matches)
- Each match provides valuable data
- Trust the process—most players are accurately placed within their first 10-15 games
Option 2: Request a Level Adjustment
- Contact our support team to request a starting level adjustment
- Available once only during your first 10 matches
- Tell us the level you believe accurately reflects your skill (based on your experience in leagues, tournaments, or regular play)
- Important: When your level is adjusted, your Reliability Score is reset to 0%. This puts you in a 'Verification Phase' where the system tests your performance at this new level with high sensitivity. Be prepared for significant point changes in your next few matches!
⚖️ Established Player Adjustments
If you've played 10 or more matches, your level is based on substantial data:
Manual Adjustment Not Available
- Your rating reflects real match performance
- The system has high confidence in your placement
- Manual changes would undermine the integrity of the ranking system
What You Can Do Instead:
- Keep Playing: Your level will naturally adjust based on performance
- Quality Over Quantity: Winning against higher-level opponents accelerates your rise
- Request a Review: If you believe there's a technical error (e.g., match results recorded incorrectly), contact support with specific match details
⚠️ Important Guidelines
Why We Limit Manual Adjustments:
- Maintains competitive integrity and fair matchmaking
- Ensures ratings reflect real match performance
- Protects the community from rating manipulation
The Bottom Line:
- Under 10 matches: Contact support for a one-time level adjustment
- 10+ matches: Your rating is based on substantial match data and represents your true skill
- Technical issues: Contact support with specific match details
